MILWAUKEE, July 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Manpower today launched a new Web-based tool to strengthen the human resource function for small and mid- size businesses in the United States. The Manpower Business Resource Center, available free of charge at www.us.manpower.com/brc , gives companies HR insight that will help them make smart hiring decisions and effectively manage their workforce. The Center also educates visitors on the HR services Manpower provides and offers online access to many of them.

"Small businesses are eager for cost-effective hiring tools that will improve operations," said Barbara Beck, executive vice president of U.S. and Canadian operations for Manpower Inc. "The Business Resource Center adds depth to a company's HR capabilities with its vast cache of information and online ordering capabilities."

The Business Resource Center is divided into four major topic areas:

  • Information Center - visitors can consult this online library for advice about a variety of HR subjects, including employment law, health and safety, HR management, diversity and culture, and compensation and benefits. The information center contains hundreds of educational articles from experts at Manpower and the HR industry.
  • Training Center - online training is a cost-effective, hassle-free way to build and sustain a knowledgeable workforce. A snapshot of Manpower's e-learning offering is available through the online training center. Visitors even have access to free sample courses that will allow them to evaluate the quality, ease of use and educational value of the training.
  • Online Staff Ordering - "test drive" online staff ordering with the ability to track and view orders, review candidates and make staffing inquiries. Orders are filled by local Manpower offices, making it easy for employers to access personal customer service, if needed.
  • Hiring Tools - visitors can learn about innovative online hiring tools that improve the candidate selection process. By selecting the right candidate, employers will reduce turnover and the high costs associated with training new employees. Topics include skills assessments, background checks, prescreening and employee referrals.

"Small and mid-size business owners are often working with limited resources, requiring them to wear many hats within their organization," said Beck. "With our knowledge and services, Manpower can support these business owners in the HR function as they encounter the gamut of workforce management issues, from writing a job description to online recruiting and screening. The Manpower Business Resource Center is a valuable source of HR expertise."
