Manpower Receives CIO Magazine's Top Award for Excellence in Technology

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Manpower received the prestigious CIO 100 award from CIO magazine in recognition of the company's positive business performance through resourceful IT management and practices.

The focus of the CIO 100 changes annually to reflect ever-changing business trends. This year, the award honors 100 companies that demonstrate the resourceful use of technology and related assets in a tough economic climate.

The CIO 100 judges were particularly impressed with Manpower's ability to increase the ROI of its North American IT department with management savvy rather than hiring additional staff. Manpower transformed its IT department into a marketplace in which managers are rewarded for sharing staff, an effort that enables them to complete projects with maximum precision and speed -- the very strategy that Manpower employs on behalf of customers.

"Manpower's success is centered in our ability to create a flexible workforce for businesses. We're honored to received the CIO 100 award because it gives our IT department the opportunity to showcase just how effective flexible staffing can be," said Barbara Beck, executive vice president of U.S. and Canadian operations for Manpower Inc.

Manpower was also chosen for the award based on the successful implementation of technology programs that lowered the time and cost associated with its most common business processes, including time entry for the employees Manpower places on assignment and data management for the employee and customer information that is gathered throughout its North American organization on a daily basis.

"A nimble IT crew is the only kind to have at Manpower in light of our vast technology infrastructure. We support the company's international headquarters, in addition to a network of more than 1,000 U.S. and Canadian branch offices that put a half-million people to work each year," said Peter Stockhausen, CIO for Manpower in North America. "Each member of our IT team should be proud of the contributions they made to qualify Manpower for the CIO 100 award."

The CIO 100 is now in its 16th year of annually recognizing the top 100 companies that exemplify a particular aspect of business or organizational excellence. The recipients of this year's CIO 100 were selected through a comprehensive process, lead by CIO editorial staff and members of its expert panel.
