MILWAUKEE, Mar 19, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Manpower Inc. (NYSE: MAN) today announced that Jean-Pierre Lemonnier, 43, has been named Managing Director of Manpower France upon the death of Bertrand Denis, age 60.

"I am saddened to announce the death of Bertrand Denis, Managing Director of Manpower France, on Monday, the 18th of March, after a battle with cancer," said Jeffrey A. Joerres, Chairman and CEO of Manpower Inc. "Bertrand was an exceptional individual and we will miss him."

Denis was named Managing Director of Manpower France in 2001 after a 31-year career in a variety of important management roles throughout the French organization, including CEO of Supplay, a French subsidiary; and Deputy General Manager of French operations.

Lemonnier has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Manpower France since 2000, where he has been responsible for overseeing a network of 950 branch offices. He joined the company in 1998 as Human Resources Director and a member of Manpower France's Executive Committee. He also served as Administrator of the French Staffing Employer Trade Union (SETT) from 1998 to 2001.

"Jean-Pierre is highly qualified for this position, with a strong background in both human resources and management, and I am confident he will successfully lead Manpower France," said Joerres.

Lemonnier is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies of Paris where he earned a Master's Degree. Before joining Manpower, he was General Manager of an ELIOR subsidiary (airport catering company). He also served as Human Resources Director for the ELIOR Group, as well as Hachette Livre, a leading French publishing company.
